1st Arrochar Scouts

The 1st Arrochar Scout Group was reformed by a group of enthusiastic parents in May 2005, after a break of several years since the previous group ceased to run.  Since then, it has gone from strength to strength and opportunities now exist for children of a range of ages to join the Beavers, Cubs or Scouts.

All groups currently meet on Monday evenings, during term time, from 6.30 - 8 pm. The regular meeting place is the Three Villages Community Hall in Arrochar, but indoor meetings are often replaced by outdoor activities or trips.

Advantage is taken by the older children of our proximity to the Lochgoilhead Outdoor Activity Centre, who offer facilities and supervision for a range of exciting activities.  Nights or weekends away are also offered, either camping or staying in hostel accommodation.

Children in all sections of the Scouts are encouraged to participate in community activities, and regularly take part in the Gala Day and the Remembrance Day parades.

If you have a child who would like to join, or if you are interested in the range of adult opportunities available, please follow the appropriate link below.   The point of contact for each section will be happy to provide more information, discuss waiting lists and explain our fees.

The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities in the UK for 400,000 young people aged 6-25. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 218 countries.

Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

1st Arrochar Scout Group is always extremely keen to hear from anyone interested in being involved in any way – this can be as a regular parent helper, a committee member, a fund-raiser, by offering to organize a specific trip or activity, or indeed as a leader.

Full training is offered to anyone interested in becoming a leader, and our already established group means that you wouldn’t feel on your own! There’d be plenty of support and back-up available.
