The Arrochar and Tarbet Community Trust

Inspiring the Community to come together and thrive together

The aim of the Arrochar and Tarbet Community trust is, with the help of the community, to improve the quality of life for residents of Arrochar, Tarbet, Succoth and the surrounding area by:

  • providing better facilities and services
  • improving transport links
  • increasing visitor numbers
  • and therefore boosting the local economy

The Arrochar and Tarbet Community Trust is a registered charity set up in 2003.  The Board Directors are all local residents and represent a wide range of skills and knowledge.

Achievements to date:

  • Acquired the Pit Stop Diner for community use and profit with a view to building the Community Campus on the site.
  • Secured funding to build the 3 Villages Community Hall
  • Organised the design and build of the Community Hall providing a much needed social hub and a home for social, cultural, business and sporting activities.
  • Gained funding to construct a new off-shore pontoon to open up marine access connecting to other transport links. We received the wonderful news at the end of last year that the Trust’s application to SRDP in respect of the Arrochar Campus had been approved.  We are now waiting for the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Partnership to confirm their funding which would enable us to have the pontoon in place by the end of 2010.
  • This funding will also help to build a visitor and heritage centre on the site of the Pit Stop Diner.  Public toilets, shower and laundrette facilities will also be built on this site, more successfully meeting the needs of visitors. When funding for this project is confirmed the Trust will be discussing the timing of the removal of the Pit Stop so watch this space for news of the new Campus facilities.

The Trust is working on:

Negotiating space for an all weather sports pitch to be constructed which will provide a home for local teams and groups.

The Trust needs your help

  • By becoming a member, you have the opportunity to steer the transformation of your community
  • Greater support of the trust, through membership, allows greater influence in attaining funding for the projects listed above (and more)
  • Tell us your views – what is important to you?  How can your community be improved?

The Community Hall is testament to the work of the Trust and local residents over the last six years and how all the community can benefit.  With your help the remaining goals can be achieved, more projects undertaken and our villages made better places to live.  Think of what can be achieved in the next six years!
